I am thrilled to announce the publication of my newest novel, a Science Fiction adventure: DERELICT
When Rosalen Maldonado tinkered with the derelict space ship, she didn't count on waking its damaged AI or having 3 stowaways on board. If the accidental crew can't figure out how to work together, they'll die together, victims of a computer that doesn't realize the war ended decades before any of them were born.
The striking cover for DERELICT was created (as was the cover for FUTURE TENSE) by Chris Howard.
DERELICT is available now.
- Trade paperback
- All eBook formats
Links to all purchase venues are also on my website.
If you'd rather purchase directly from me, for either signed paperbacks or eBooks, please email me at lisa@ljcohen.net
If you are an amazon shopper and purchase the print book, each of my novels is enrolled in the Kindle Matchbook program, where the purchase of the print edition entitles you to a deep discount on the eBook copy. Should you purchase the print edition directly from either CreateSpace or from me, I would be happy to add the eBook copy in your choice of format for $0.99.
How You Can Help
Bullet points:
- tell a friend
- release week blitz
- the Amazon wishlist
Word of mouth is what helps books get into the hands of readers. If you read and enjoy DERELICT, or know of someone who might, would you please forward this email on or mention the book on social media?
Discoverability is probably the biggest hurdle for an author today. Books live and die by their Amazon rankings. If this is a book you think you would enjoy and you are planning on purchasing it, would you consider buying it during its release week? (From now - June 8th) With even a small number of sales clustered together, the book will get noticed and promoted by the magical data machines.
Even if you aren't planning on purchasing the book, simply putting it on your wishlist can give it a visibility boost. Would you be willing to place DERELICT on your Amazon wishlist?
Celebration!
In addition to DERELICT'S book birthday, this week also represents my 9th anniversary blogging at Once in a Blue Muse AND my 1000th blog post. In honor of this trifecta, I'm going to hold a giveaway. Some of you may know that in addition to my writing, I've gotten seriously involved in pottery and make wheel thrown and hand built functional ceramics. You can see some of my work here.
As part of the celebration, if you purchase a copy of DERELICT and either email me a 'selfie' of you reading the book, or a copy of your receipt, I will enter you into a drawing to win one of 6 handmade ceramic coffee mugs.
This is open to anyone, regardless of where they live. (Details will be in an upcoming blogpost the week of June 2nd. Stay tuned.)
Excerpt: DERELICT
I am thrilled to share with you, attached to this newsletter, the first 4 chapters of DERELICT as a pdf file. I hope you enjoy the story that Lynn Viehl, the NYT bestselling author of the Stardoc and Darkyn series calls ". . . an edgy, nonstop flight into an audacious SF future. . ." Nathan Lowell, the creator of the Golden Age of the Solar Clipper and the Tanyth Fairport Adventures says: "Intricate plotting melded seamlessly with delightful characterizations . . . A cracking yarn. . . "
And I'll leave you with a link to a short trailer for the book, created with images from NASA and the Hubbel telescope, along with original music composed by my son. Enjoy!
