Ithaka Rising: Cover reveal

One year ago, you helped make DERELICT a run-away success. Today, I am thrilled to share the cover for its sequel, ITHAKA RISING, and let you know that it will be available as an eBook on June 21st, with the print edition to follow. (I'll send a short note in a few weeks when the links are all live.)

Ithaka Rising Cover

This beautiful piece of art was created by Chris Howard, to be a companion piece to the cover for DERELICT. I am thrilled with his vision of my novels and am excited to see the two books side by side.

This story starts weeks after the events of DERELICT, however, it can be read as a stand alone.

ITHAKA RISING:
A derelict ship and a splintered crew are not the rewards Ro had hoped for when she helped disrupt her father's plans to start a war with smuggled weapons. But with the responsibilities of full Commonwealth citizenship and limited resources, she is forced to take her father's place working as an engineer on Daedalus station while she and Barre try to repair their damaged freighter, Halcyone. Barre's brother, Jem, is struggling with the disabling effects of his head injury, unable to read or code. His only hope is to obtain a neural implant, but the specialists determine he is too young and his brain damage too extensive.

When Jem disappears, his trail dead ends at the black market. Ro and Barre race to find Jem before he sells his future, risking his mind for an illegal neural implant. But they're not the only ones looking for "The Underworld" and its rogue planet, Ithaka. What they find endangers more than just the three of them and forces them to confront a very different truth about the war they believed was ancient history.

As a thank you to my newsletter subscribers, a pdf of the first 3 chapters is attached to this edition.

DERELICT Audiobook News

Derelict audiobook cover

For audiobook lovers, DERELICT, Halcyone Space book 1, is now available through Amazon, Audible, and iTunes (in process). Bill Burrows is the narrator and his voice captures the world and its characters perfectly.

Upcoming Appearances

I'll be on panels/readings at Boston's own Readercon, an annual conference/convention devoted to "imaginative literature" this coming July 9 - 12.

If you're in the area, I'll be doing a book event/reading in support of Waltham's MORE THAN WORDS bookstore on Sunday, June 29th at 1 pm.  More Than Words is more than a bookstore, it is a nonprofit social enterprise that empowers youth who are in the foster care system, court involved, homeless, or out of school to take charge of their lives by taking charge of a business and I am thrilled to be helping out in their mission by donating books for the store.
