Writing News

I deeply appreciate all you have done to help spread the word about ITHAKA RISING. If you have purchased the novel, thank you. I have said this before, but it bears repeating: writing (all art, really) is a partnership between creator and reader. The work is not fully alive until it has been read/seen/heard. Thank you for helping to bring ITHAKA RISING (and all of my work) to life.

I have begun drafting book 3 in the Halcyone Space series, and this one actually has a name already! DREADNAUGHT AND SHUTTLE has a basic blueprint, an ending, and I've written approximately 7,500 words thus far. (For those of you playing along at home, that's approximately 7.5% of the target and 2 1/2 chapters.)

I'll be sharing bits and pieces of the work in progress over on Google Plus in a collection of my 'saturday scenes', if you're interested in how the sausage is made. :)

I'd also love to hear from you regarding what you'd like to see in future editions of BlueMusings: Scenes from work in progress? More short stories? Deleted scenes from published work? "Behind the story" commentary?

Let me know how I can thank you for your continued interest and suport!

Reviews

I recently received a lovely surprise: my short story collection, STRANGER WORLDS THAN THESE, was read and reviewed by the Immerse or Die web project, in which books are read until they amass up to 3 'WTF' moments. They are 'graded' on time read, up to 40 minutes.

In the nearly 2 years they have been doing this, only 23 out of 240 books have made it through to be survivors. STRANGER WORLDS was one of those.

If you haven't yet downloaded your free copy, you can get it here. (It's available to all my subscribers in mobi, epub, and now pdf formats - if you do not have an ebook device and would like the pdf, please just email me and I'll send it.)

Speaking of reviews, ITHAKA RISING has received some amazing praise. You can read some of the stellar reviews on its Amazon page. This incredible review by Lynn Viehl (a SF&F author and NYT bestseller/all around wonderful person and writer) was posted on her blog.

"I also think it's not a read for the cynics, the nihilists and the self-appointed SF police out there. But: if you love to be swept off by a story, and you want to become emotionally invested in its characters, and you enjoy exploring a fully-developed future universe filled with intrigue, danger and surprises, this should be your next new book purchase." - Lynn Viehl

ITHAKA RISING is available everywhere eBooks are sold:
Amazon
Google Play
Kobo
iTunes

You can purchase the print edition as well, either through Amazon, or by contacting me directly for signed copies.

Choose (a gift for a friend!)

The greatest gift a reader can give a writer is to recommend their work to others. Do you have a friend/neighbor/librarian/relative you would like to introduce my work to?

I would be happy to send a free eBook copy of any of my books to a reader of your choice.

Please either reply to this email, or email me separately with:
  • your name
  • the name of the person you'd like to recommend
  • their email address
I'll send them a single email with a brief decription of each of my books and give them an opportunity to choose one.

In line with my no spam, ever, policy, I won't subscribe them to this list, or send them any unsolicited email.

If you enjoy my work, I would very much appreciate it if you would recommend my writing to a friend, forward this newsletter, add one of my books to your Amazon wish list, or write a review.

Thank you!
