Recommendations With PARALLAX ready to go and no major new deadline looming on the horizon, I've been taking some time to just read for pleasure. I'm a reading 'omnivore' and while I read a lot of books in a year, I only recommend ones that I've enjoyed and think that my readers might too. FountainCorp Security:Diary of a Space Marine by Watson Davis Fans of military SF and space opera might enjoy this fast-paced story with echoes of The Expanse. Dorothea "Hero" Ohomie is a character of great strength and drive. However, this is definitely not a YA read as there are mature themes, a high body count, and strong language. And nanotech zombies. * The Given by Colby R. Rice Post apocalyptic is typically not my thing, but I found this story gripping and couldn't put it down. The relationship between the main character and her young sister, the emotional stakes, and the intricate world building and its politics makes this complex novel well worth the read. (And as of this writing, is free on Amazon.) And while our heroine is a young girl, this story is not your typical coming-of-age tale. * The Occasional Diamond Thief by J. A. McLachlan This may be one of the best books I've read this year. Beautifully written with fully realized characters, this story is rich with moral dillemas, a clash of planetary cultures and values, and a family mystery spanning a generation and reaching across the galaxy. The world building was thorough and thought provoking. This is a YA SF story that is complex enough for any adult and with a young heroine any teen will be captivated by. Highly recommended! Don't let the title mislead you, this is a strong SF offering. Free Promotion I've joined with 16 other authors of science fiction and fantasy in a month long giveaway of books. While many of you have probably already read DERELICT, this is your chance to browse some other authors and you may just find your newest favorite in the bunch. The promotion ends May 31st and feel free to share. PARALLAX Publication News The eBook is formatted and is error-free. The print formatting is completed; the proof is on its way. Everything is on track for a release on or before June 14th. I want to thank you for your support and encouragement. Please find attached to this email a PDF with an exclusive sneak peek of the first 3 chapters of PARALLAX. I'll be sending out another email when it's officially published. Until then, if you are a Goodreads user, would you consider marking PARALLAX as 'want to read'? That helps give the book wider exposure. Thank you!
