Pen-Ultimate: A
Speculative Fiction Anthology emerged from a chance remark
at a reunion dinner with fellow graduates of the Boston-area Ultimate
Science Fiction Writing Workshop. I happened to mention how amazed I
was by the talent of the writers sitting around that table and that we
really should put together an anthology.
My companions were enthused about the idea and promptly tasked me with
making it happen. :) One year later, Pen-Ultimate is a reality, thanks
to some wonderful stories, a terrific co-editor (Talib S. Hussain), and
the amazing artistry of Chris Howard.
From
the Icelandic coast of VÃk, where a Troll ship waits entombed in stone
for the hand of the artist to free it, to a boy who, with the help of
his alien friend, learns to create entire worlds, the stories
in Pen-Ultimate showcase tales of fantastic visions, alien perceptions,
and emerging awareness.
This speculative fiction anthology contains eleven stories written by
graduates of the Boston area Ultimate SF Writing Workshop. All proceeds
from the sale of the book will be donated to the SFWA (Science Fiction
and Fantasy Writers of America) emergency medical fund.
The collection is available in trade paperback and eBook editions.
Links to purchase venues can be found here.
I would be grateful if you would spread the word.

DERELICT
News:
DERELICT, the SF Novel I wrote and serialized last year, is now on
submission to several of the big Science Fiction imprints of New York
publishing houses.
I am hopeful that one (or more!) of the editors will make an offer to
purchase the rights to publish it. The reality is, that once
the writer has written the best manuscript she can write, and has
edited
and revised that manuscript, when it is on submission, it is out of her
hands.
I leave it up to the universe as I move ahead with the next project.
If you hadn't had the opportunity and you'd like to read the first
three chapters, you can read them here.

I've recently finished
two very different novels. One is a science fiction tale of a dystopic
future. The other is a fantasy romp. One is independently published.
The other put out by a traditional publishing house.
What the two have in common?
- Characters
to care about
- Page
turner plots
- Richly
imagined worlds
- Strong
and vivid writing
- Original
turns on genre
plots
While both books are written for adults, they are both also appropriate
for the strong pre-teen reader.
